Let’s geaux shopping: French blues

Near-end of the week is a nice time to take a quick break for something pretty and light. Reportedly, one of 2024’s top trends for warm weather is French blue, although that’s kind of like saying a top trend for warm weather is swimsuits. As the color of the high June sky, swimming pools, and vacation waters, French blue will remain a summer classic. Make yourself an iced French press and enjoy window (tabs?) shopping.

  • Cool girl cap: you’re already cool, but this minimalist cap adds a dose of nonchalant style to neutral basics, denim, and linen

  • Sleeve detail sweater: if you’re in Maine, this sweater would be lovely at a midnight beach bonfire; if you’re everywhere else, it will make a lovely transition piece at the end of summer

  • Espadrille flats: summery perfection without having to deal with a pedicure, just begging to be paired with loose pants and dresses

  • Perfect sundress: found—your outfit for every summer event; add a red lip, earring, or sandal (try the red iteration of my favorite waterproof Saltwaters) and you’re ready for Fourth of July festivities

  • Blue socks: a colorful sock is surprisingly impactful in adding a little personality and variation to your regular rotation

  • Slip skirt: I love this skirt so much I have it in three colors; it travels well, packs down to nothing, dresses up and down, and moves through all seasons. This delicate blue is gorgeous and pairs with tons of other colors (I’d love to see it at a wedding with a heeled sandal and lacy top, or at the farmer’s market with sneakers and a boxy tee).

  • Versatile sneakers: wear with quite literally everything, including all the other pieces here; they’ll also look great with an all-black outfit next season
