Something beautiful: Black Madonna

The icon of the Black Madonna (Our Lady of Częstochowa) dates back to the 14th century, but her traditional origin is St Luke the Apostle, who is said to have painted her on the Holy Family's table top. Who knows if this legend bears truth, but the icon has been associated with powerful and miraculous intercession. She is housed at Jasna Gora Monastery in Częstochowa, Poland.
