Something beautiful: color-washed beaches

The Water Fan, Winslow Homer, 1899

Winslow Homer painted a prolific body of lush watercolors depicting fisherman, tossing boats, crashing waves, ocean sunsets, beach-goers, even high-seas rescues and skiffs surrounded by frenzies of sharks. They are, simply put, watercolor perfection. Here, I love the softest wash of reds and the gorgeous shadows on the fisherman's white shirt.
